Stripping the music down to its essence, that's what I am witnessing in my composing process. Only the elements that are neccesary remain. There's no 'normal' song structure and because of that you cannot fall back on what you have been conditioned to expect from music. Not much seems to happen at the surface. But if you listen closely, over time, you hear subtle shifts in sounds and textures.
I want to balance between static and motion. I want to make music that is non-intrusive and at same time interesting enough to keep my attention. In my experience, listening to this kind of music elicits a continuous alertness or sonic awareness and it's immediately meditative. I just close my eyes and let myself be carried away by the music. My ears are filtering out the static tones over time, and open up to the subtle changes underneath. This makes me feel present and alive.
